About wereonthenet.co.uk
The idea of wereonthenet.co.uk came to me after I designed a website for our own shared family villa in Spain. On launching the website I received a lot of positive feedback and also many requests for quotes to design similar sites for other holiday home owners. As I quoted each one, I realised how expensive each quote sounded and how unlikely it was that, when setting up the holiday home, owners were going to want to spend this much on a website. On the other side of the coin, I also realised that without a website, owners are often left behind in the rental game.
So, that is when wereonthenet.co.uk was born! Having already spent many hours planning our own website, looking at what needed to be included on a holiday home site, designing an interactive calendar which instantly reflects the booking information entered into the database behind the scenes, I figured why not let other people benefit from my efforts.
The small business side of wereonthenet came about in a similar way, after I was asked to design sites with 'content management' for a builder, a painter/decorator and a restaurant. They all wanted similar things and having launched wereonthenet for holiday homes, I realised that the needs of small business were not that different.
With a background in designing databases and web pages used daily by 5000 students at a local university, I have had plenty of experience of designing both web page layout and backend databases. I am not in this to make huge profits, rather to provide a service to small businesses and holiday home owners, giving them a valuable web presence at a fraction of the cost charged by most web designers. Added to this is the ability of the clients to manage and maintain their own text and photographs without the need of web design skills or external help.
